The Artificial Limb Measurement Camp organized by Narayan Seva Sansthan, Rajasthan, was successfully conducted on 7th April 2024 at the Port Indoor Stadium, Visakhapatnam. The camp was aimed at supporting specially-abled individuals by facilitating the measurement process required for the provision of artificial limbs and assistive devices. Vizag Volunteers was honored to serve as the volunteering partner for this noble initiative, contributing its manpower and organizational support to ensure the smooth execution of the event.

The camp witnessed participation from patients belonging to various states, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Jharkhand. Individuals with physical disabilities traveled long distances with hope and determination to avail themselves of this life-changing opportunity. For many participants, the camp represented a significant step toward greater mobility, independence, and an improved quality of life. The event served as a platform where healthcare professionals and volunteers came together to support people with special needs through compassionate service and coordinated assistance.

To facilitate the large-scale operation, Vizag Volunteers deployed approximately 70 dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the day. The volunteers were assigned to various responsibilities, ensuring that every participant received the necessary guidance and support. From the moment patients arrived at the venue, volunteers assisted them with registration procedures, directed them to the appropriate counters, and helped maintain an organized flow of activities across the stadium. Their presence ensured that participants, many of whom faced mobility challenges, could navigate the event comfortably and efficiently.

One of the most critical services provided by the volunteers was wheelchair assistance and mobility support. Volunteers accompanied patients across different sections of the venue, helping them move between registration desks, waiting areas, medical consultations, and measurement stations. In addition, volunteers managed seating arrangements to ensure comfort and accessibility for participants and their accompanying family members. Their efforts helped create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all attendees.

Language support was another important aspect of the event. Since patients had traveled from multiple states and spoke different regional languages, volunteers played a vital role as translators between doctors, medical staff, and patients. By facilitating clear communication, they helped ensure that patients understood the procedures, medical recommendations, and measurement requirements. This assistance proved invaluable in creating a smooth and stress-free experience for both healthcare professionals and beneficiaries.

Volunteers also actively supported the medical teams during the measurement process. Many participants had traveled considerable distances and spent long hours at the venue, making these services an important component of their overall experience.
