Oxygen Support - Wave 01

During the second wave of COVID-19, one of the biggest challenges faced by patients and their families was the shortage of oxygen support. As hospitals became overwhelmed and the number of cases increased rapidly, many patients required oxygen therapy either at hospitals or while recovering at home. Recognizing this urgent need, Vizag Volunteers launched the Oxygen Support Initiative to provide timely assistance to COVID-19 patients and their families.

The objective of the project was simple yet critical—to ensure that individuals in need of oxygen support could access it free of cost during a period when resources were scarce and demand was exceptionally high. Understanding the anxiety and distress faced by affected families, the organization worked to establish a structured system for receiving and responding to requests.

People seeking assistance could contact the Vizag Volunteers helpline, 7337335557, through which requests were received and documented. Each request was then forwarded to dedicated on-ground volunteers who carried out verification procedures and coordinated the fulfillment process. This systematic approach helped ensure that support reached genuine cases as quickly as possible.

Every fulfilled request represented a family supported, a patient cared for, and a community standing together in the face of adversity. The initiative demonstrated how organized volunteer efforts can make a meaningful impact during times of crisis and contribute to the well-being of society.
